We received word through a tipster yesterday that the McDonald’s at 169 Tillary Street, a long-time fixture in Downtown Brooklyn, had closed. Sure enough, that was the case when we went by this morning. According to signs up in the windows, the fast food giant lost its lease after, we’re guessing, 20 years. The property does not appear to have changed hands recently nor have any new building permits been applied for. Anyone know what the plan is? Is the demise of McD’s good news or bad news for BKLYN Gold marketing efforts? GMAP

  1. 11217,

…the image of testicles and a waffle iron is making me cringe here!

The McDonald’s on Atlantic and Logan (I think) in East New York used to have a bullet proof glass wall at the front counter. This was in the 1980’s-early 90’s. I kid you not. haven’t seen that in a McD’s since.

  2. Etson,

There are a couple things I’d bet my testicles on with regard to money makers in Brooklyn:

    1. A waffle house (pretty much anywhere in BK) and
    2. A trader Joe’s in Park Slope

    Both are potential goldmines.
