Confirmation is in, in the form of a Craigslist job post, that Le Pain Quotidien is moving into the old Moutarde space on the corner of Fifth Avenue and Carroll Street. Confirmation is in, in the form of a Craigslist job post, that Le Pain Quotidien is moving into the old Moutarde space on the corner of Fifth Avenue and Carroll Street. Last week the bakery and lunch chain confirmed they were moving into Park Slope by May but did not disclose exactly where. Here’s Park Slope heard rumors that they were headed for the space last occupied by Moutarde. And the Craigslist post clearly backs up the rumors, stating that the new location will be “239 5th Avenue (at Carroll Street).” The only other Brooklyn location of Le Pain Quotidian is on Montague Street in Brooklyn Heights. This corner space seems like a good fit for the cafe, known for its French goodies and communal tables.

this is great, but i just hope fifth ave doesn’t go the same direction as seventh ave. a lot of property owners on fifth that i know have worked hard to keep a unique mix of tenants: restaurants, bars, boutiques etc. seventh ave was a great place until the chains came in.
and really, it was one of the better and more useful commercial strips in brooklyn for that time.
