We’ve gotten several emails about the signage that has gone up on the restaurant at 68 Bergen, the Italian restaurant now called Broken English. Everything looks ready to go, but they weren’t seating people when we went by to snap this photo over the weekend. We’d expect this one to be fully open this week!

  1. Benson, I would like the name of this restaurant better if I knew it was owned by some Italians with a sense of humor. Why don’t you give it a try and let me know how the meatballs are! I might check it out next time I am in
Brooklyn if you give it your stamp of approval;)

  2. i cant tell if the name is pretentious, or just outright condescending. probably meant to be ironic. :-/

and yeah benson, that whole scoffing at people who think 100K is a lot of money was just off putting.
    *rob*

  3. this proliferation of sidewalk seating things are getting annoying. Especially when directly across from apt buildings that are not commercial.
Can hardly walk down past BarTabac on Dean st side because they have taken over the sidewalk.
(and this is 1st place up from Smith, right? not Court St).
C’mon Benson, person didn’t get mocked at all. Only was stated that $100k salary doesn’t get you into buying a house in Carroll Gardens. But it probably does get you into a coop/condo. He didn’t mock the person – just the assertion.
