Last time we announced that the Fulton Grand bar was opening the next day, it turned out not to be true. That happens occasionally with word-of-mouth tips. Last night, though, we received an email from the owner of the bar assuring us that opening day would in fact be tomorrow, Wednesday, August 4th. What’s more, we’ve been told that the new watering hole (located, not surprisingly, at the corner of Fulton Street and Grand Avenue in Clinton Hill) will be offering happy hour prices all night long. See you there.

  1. WASDER! I have some extra bluestone. They are small, irregular pieces, but come take a look! About 30 pieces. Also you can see the work my craigslist hire did. Need your email. Or Cobble can forward you my email.

  2. Dude-I am not arguing whether or not the broader economy is in the shitter but I will say that since this corner of the neighborhood in particular was underserved and therefore had not much place to go but up, this demonstrates that your broad brush theory is reductionist and unrealistic. Between the Food Co-op, the BID, the Co-op School and the healthy, surviving businesses on Fulton such as Outpost and Michael Allen, this particular corner of Clinton Hill will become cleaner, nicer, and more attractive to business investment no matter what you or I say about it. That is a tipping point.

  3. Actually, I’d rather see this business succeed but I’m a realist. Seems like everyday on brownstoner we see a mom & pop close down. And, quitely, bank seizures continue to occur nationwide.

Yes, we agree that a tipping point has been reached and a great transformation will take place this time next year. We just don’t agree on the direction. “Six Flags” is coming to Brooklyn. Brace yourself for the next dip. No hands.

  4. Though I know you would rather see this business fail and the neighborhood decline, I think we have reached the tipping point BHO. Between this and the coop this block will be greatly transformed by this time next year.
