“He’s one of three U.S. Born drivers I’ve had in nine years of living here. And I think one of the others was him too — he looked familiar.”
have you ever had a woman cab driver? i have twice. it was very strange!!
If you learn to ride a bicycle at a young age, you can prob drive ok when older.
The other day I had a taxi driver who was from Texas. Came to NYC in 1969, lives in a rent stabilized two bed in Nolita. We had a great chat. Smooth ride also.
He’s one of three U.S. Born drivers I’ve had in nine years of living here. And I think one of the others was him too — he looked familiar.
Randolph, I don’t have a problem with immigrants driving taxis, but it is the case that many learned to drive late in life. Most of them seem to better drivers though than one guy I knew who learned at 32 and couldn’t change lanes or stay in the lane. I couldn’t drive w him — terrifying.
randy, in no way was I disparaging the life of a goat herder. I merely used it as an example of a profession outside the US in which experience driving an automobile was lacking.
Other such professions might be:
Music box operator with monkey
Go-go boy
Night soil pot collector
French civil servant
All of these are commendable professions and I have known (and loved) some involved with one of them.
You seem quick to judge and misinterpret here quite often. I suspect it’s because English is not your first language. Which profession did you hold before you emigrated?
“bedford needs a good old fashion drive by. ”
well, it’s the longest street in brooklyn – so i’m sure there’s drive bys happening SOMEWHERE on the street. just not in williamsburg – no shootings here. that’s brownstone brooklyn’s thang.
Both dibs. And by awful music I mean profane lyrics that are not for all audiences.
