jones-truck-032310.jpgNow that the brouhaha over her windows is dying down (the seven new windows are installed and by all accounts they look just fine), it’s time for the next stage of Norah Jones’ townhouse renovation: the backyard swimming pool. Back in January, a New York Post article had a brief reference to the fact that the famous singer was planning to build a pool, but provided no details; DOB filings also confirm that a pool is in the works, as does this pool installation truck parked on her block. Now we’ve got some color on the situation, courtesy of a tipster: If the intelligence is correct, and it sounds like it comes from a good source, we’re talking about a 8-by-30-foot in-ground pool with a hydraulic system that enables the pool to be covered and used as a terrace at the push of a button. This could be the start of a trend!

  1. “Yes, but absolutely no one is in the city June through August unless they totally have to be here”

“No one is here in the summer anyway. Even I split every single weekend.”

Wow… we’ve entered a world that I am not part of. Jaysus. I guess I should get a “country house” and ditch the city this summer… huh?

  2. I go away every July; August in Brooklyn is a wonderful time of year. This past one was heaven to me.

Sitting on a bar patio at 9:30 at night making phone calls to friends rules.

Getting out of a show on Sunday evenings and walking to a cafe in a tee shirt and jeans also rules.

  3. “Surely you jest! There’s nothing like coming home on a hot, muggy day & knowing you can plunge into a pool!”

Yes, but absolutely no one is in the city June through August unless they totally have to be here–and Ms. Jones doesn’t have to, so she won’t, so the pool won’t get much use. Pools are for the country house.

well arent YOU special! lol. some of us arent afforded that luxury ahhaha. what the city NEEDS to do is install adult only sprinklers! the kids have their kids only sprinkers, i think the adults should have them too!

    *rob*

  5. I dunno, I think swimming pools are best at the weekend house or the summer place. A little decorative pool is always nice, a water feature, but a lap pool in the back is something I would not have even if I could afford it.
Why do you suppose she bought an old rowhouse in Brooklyn when what she seems to want is a glass villa in the Bahamas?

  6. Surely you jest! There’s nothing like coming home on a hot, muggy day & knowing you can plunge into a pool! I have neighbors who phone me as they’re getting off the subway & leave swimsuits at my house! And. I don’t have to fight traffic to go anywhere in the summer – it’s heaven having your own swimming hole.

  7. “Who wants to swim in Brooklyn in the summer?”

Exactly! No one is here in the summer anyway. Even I split every single weekend (not to the Hamptons, thanks). I doubt Nora will be here in the humid nasty weather. So the pool seems silly.
