THL, I would love that feeling too, but I have to admit when I look at places to live if it’s more than 2 blocks from the subway it’s a deal breaker for me. I suppose it matters not since I’m as broke as a joke and won’t be buying a damned thing anytime soon 🙂
Snappy, I always tease her about that since she’s an avid runner.
It has a great hometown vibe going on. Some people prefer to be out of the fray and some people crave it. Her fiance is a fireman who works and drives to his house in Brooklyn so they’re a very car centric family. She likes the feeling of getting out of the city when she goes home.

When looking for 500k or less homes several things came up in Marine Park…where the hell is that and how is that hood?
It’s where I grew up, nice, quiet Middle/Working class neighborhood which until recently was almost completely Irish, Italian, Polish and German Catholic and non religious Jewish. The new homebuyers are a mix: people who grew up there, Eastern European and Chinese immigrants, religious Jews and the occasional lost yuppie…
Damn…she needs a ride to the subway station? Yikes!
