Closing Bell: Inflatable Rat Makes Rare Slope Appearance
The union rat was parked outside of the 5th Avenue branch of Neergaard Pharmacy yesterday afternoon. According to the union guys, they were protesting the sign company Neergaard is employing. GMAP

When it comes to small and family run businesses this is so stupid for the union to do. On the bright side, its good, free publicity for the pharmacy. The union looks foolish.

Stupid or no, it’s their right to demonstrate.
If I had the energy (and the lung capacity to run away afterwards), I would have stuck around until they inflated the ridiculous thing and jabbed my keys right in the rat’s ass, popping the stupid thing.”

Just an opinion? You said you want to put a violent/destructive end to a peaceful protest.

You asked me why I’m on ‘Stoner if I don’t care about the exterior of buildings. I don’t need to care about that to be here. And you are drinking far too early in the day if you believe that those union workers and there stomach rash-having rat are out there because they are worried about the style or ‘period-appropriateness’ of the new sign going up outside Neergaard. Surely you jest! Joe, what gets me is that a lot of union workers tend to bitch and moan about things I feel are ridiculous. I don’t have to agree with them, nor they with me. The same way they get to stand there with their rat to cry foul about not getting the job to hang the sign (my heart bleeds for them while the world’s tiniest violin plays), I am entitled to call them greedy *@$!#.
Joe, I don’t have to love crusty old brownstones to be on ‘Stoner. In case you hadn’t noticed, we discuss things other than brownstones on the main page. Like, this thread about union rats outside pharmacies! Who knew?!

I didn’t ask if you love brownstones. You said “I couldn’t possibly care less what they do to the sign and I’m willing to bet most other patrons don’t care either.” So what do you care if these guys want to stand in the cold and peacefully remind people that the company isn’t using Union labor. Seems you want it swept under the rug. Some people DO care if they “smell a rat”, I think that’s what gets you.
That’s riiiiight! I’m a B’Stoner heathen. I like modern, new and flashy. Brownstones bore the crap out of me. Original detail? NO THANKS! NEXT——> Yet, here I am? And make no mistake, I’m not the only one by far 🙂
ROFL, Dave
Joe, Snappy HATES Brownstones and original details. She’s here for the booze (and the broads).
“…I have faith they will choose an appropriate sign.”
