Closing Bell: Inflatable Rat Makes Rare Slope Appearance
The union rat was parked outside of the 5th Avenue branch of Neergaard Pharmacy yesterday afternoon. According to the union guys, they were protesting the sign company Neergaard is employing. GMAP

Kind of my point Denton, the British car makers were unionized and mostly horrific. Mrs Thatcher smashed the unions pretty well, but they are still a big problem in the rail / tube service and some public sector roles.
I remember when I lived back there & the GM workers went on strike in 1998 or so. The UK news showed this guy whose job was far from skilled, yet hw owned a fancy house and a powerboat and was paid well more than the average UK employee. And then he’s on strike for more. No-one could believe it.
Ooops…my dinner comment was meant for the OT. That’s what I get for having more than one window open!
Omigawd DIBS you have no idea what you are talking about. You always miss all the legit grounds to attack unions, and say uncredible lies. To wit, the people outside the building are stupid and don’t even know what thy’re doing there, they’ll only be there a half day, and they are pulled from construction sites even though the builder is getting billed anyway. That is so disrespectful, you have no idea. THere is nothing i hate more than uninformed people talking as if they were knowledgeable about something anyway (yes i realize this statement will come back to bite me). Protesting is hard work. Ask the people in fron of the store why they are there before you report back that they don’t know. There may be more to this story than you realize. For one, mom and pops are subject to labor law, so there may be more to Neergard than that they’re old and lovable. Second, protesters work long hours in addition to their jobs, and don’t get paid. If their employers are billing someone in their absence. They don’t get time off from their jobs, and if their employers are fraudulently billing, thats a management issue that the employees don’t benefit from. Finally, protesters subject themselves from the ignorance that everyone displayed here
anyone still around? What’s for dinner? I’m craving grilled chicken, sauteed spinach with oven roasted garlic and steamed brown basmati rice. But I’m out of chicken. Waaaah!
“Why equate union-made with higher quality?
Ever hear of GM?”
There’s nothing wrong with the assembly line quality of American cars, not anymore. It’s the NON UNION asshole execs and designers who are at fault. The American worker turns out great vehicles for BMW, Mercedes, and all the Japanese transplants.
I’d also point out the American worker is still the most productive in the world.
Now that you’ve got me pissed off, can you name a similar British union or non-union auto assembly plant that can say the same? BMW had to shake up Rolls and Mini, and even lowly Ford had to take over Jaguar.
Why do the British like warm beer? Because they all have Lucas refrigerators! (That’s an inside automotive joke).
Ha! I shouldda known, Cargar. I shouldda known.
“You think an underpaid person with no benefits will work with the same enthusiasm as one who can actually live in the city they work in you are crazy.”
I think they would probably work with more enthusiasm than an overpaid person who is hard to fire, regardless of their level of incompetence.
And plenty of GM and Chrysler cars had major problems with assembly as well as design. I’m also pretty sure most GM cars sold here are made here, and many of those that aren’t are made in Canada (also unionized).
I’m not sure I understand your question, Joe. What exactly are you asking wrt illegal immigrants?
“Maybe he’d like it?? :)”
Empty threat. “He” definitely likes it. 😉
