The Apple store issue—whether we’ll get one or not—seems to be playing a major role in the borough’s collective psyche. It’s like Brooklyn needs one to feel validated. Blogs are obsessed. Borough Prez Marty Markowitz made a video pleading with Steve Jobs. And now The Daily News has unearthed a rendering made to pitch the tech company on a specific location at the Municipal Building in Downtown Brooklyn. And why not? “It’s got the foot traffic. The building is iconic. The building’s gorgeous, and I think it would make for a beautiful location,” said Marty.

  1. That intersection, which is such an important Brooklyn hub, is a dismal mess. Most mornings old papers are rolling on the sidewalks like tumbleweed and the opaque facades of the Temple Bar building and the Municipal Building make it look like a visit to the 1970’s
    This proposal could work.
I would love to see a little urbanity there.
I would also love to see the “bad old days” Duane Reade or whatever it across the street replaced with a new establishments that would re-open the gorgeous windows that have been bricked up and graffitied for a long time.
