The Apple store issue—whether we’ll get one or not—seems to be playing a major role in the borough’s collective psyche. It’s like Brooklyn needs one to feel validated. Blogs are obsessed. Borough Prez Marty Markowitz made a video pleading with Steve Jobs. And now The Daily News has unearthed a rendering made to pitch the tech company on a specific location at the Municipal Building in Downtown Brooklyn. And why not? “It’s got the foot traffic. The building is iconic. The building’s gorgeous, and I think it would make for a beautiful location,” said Marty.

Can hardly wait! Long live Apple.
Can hardly wait! Long live Apple.
Marty will always be a jackass, regardless.
Agree. Do we really need Borough Presidents?
Jobs will insist that building be cleaned…not a bad idea.
Minard… 205 Montague sold a month ago for 33M, duly reported by Brownstoner. It’s up for grabs for retail. Would make a great Apple store, indeed.

It’s all about prestige and being a “world class” borough.
Assuming His Steve-ness takes the bait, I’d say its as good as done.
Let the bourgie mall-ification commence.
One of the coolest Mad Men era building in Brooklyn is the European American bank on the corner of Montague and Court. It is a stylish modernist design circa 1962 that looks like it came in the same box as Lincoln Center. It’s all white marble, stainless steel and glass. An Apple store there would be great, but the bank isn’t budging.
Let’s not forget the half dozen colleges located within blocks of that location, Brooklyn Law, NYU Poly, LIU, and CUNY College of Technology, plus Pratt and Brooklyn Tech HS are each maybe a mile away. I’m sure this factors in to any decision regarding possible new Apple locations.
Is Marty awarded a honorary seat at the Genius Bar, for life, if this thing goes through?
I may be wrong, but it seems like most public grade schools indoctrinate their students on Apples.
Not P.C.
