The Apple store issue—whether we’ll get one or not—seems to be playing a major role in the borough’s collective psyche. It’s like Brooklyn needs one to feel validated. Blogs are obsessed. Borough Prez Marty Markowitz made a video pleading with Steve Jobs. And now The Daily News has unearthed a rendering made to pitch the tech company on a specific location at the Municipal Building in Downtown Brooklyn. And why not? “It’s got the foot traffic. The building is iconic. The building’s gorgeous, and I think it would make for a beautiful location,” said Marty.

  1. The demographic issue is not Brooklyn as a whole, the question is what is the demographics of the foot traffic at this location. The weekday foot traffic is mostly municipal workers of various stripes, courthouse workers and people on jury duty. Not exactly the Apple demographic. Foot traffic is heavy during commute times, but during evenings and especially on weekends the are is a dead zone. I don’t see it being attractive to Apple.

  2. The demographics are in Apple’s sweet spot. Would be a success. But another aesthetically ugly addition.

Apple products are good for aesthetics and simplicity, not quality. True tech lovers find better functionality/quality for better price in other brands.

  3. the space is worth about 60 a foot on ground, maybe a bit more the block of court btw remsen and montague is busiest in BK apple not going to this location and city won’t give up space and apple wants something better
