Summer weather reemerged for a hot and sunny day at the Brooklyn Book Festival on Sunday. Vendors, publishers, authors and readers gathered in person in Columbus Park for the festival for the first time since 2019.

Proof of vaccination wrist bands for author events were a new addition and masks were in place on many an attendee but otherwise literary enthusiasts strolled amongst the usual set up of white-tented booths. Although there appeared to be fewer booths this year, there were still plenty of books for browsing.

There were just two outdoor stages in the park for author conversations this year and while the steps of Borough Hall were a bit quiet in the morning, by afternoon they were packed with attendees. Nearby venues Brooklyn Law School and St. Francis College hosted additional panels and the event was able to continue into the late evening this year with the addition of virtual events. Alison Bechdel, Jonathan Lethem, Rachel Kushner, Hanif Abdurraqib, Viet Thanh Nguyen and Emma Staub were among the participants.

If you missed out on the day, here are a few views of the book-filled event.
