Hi Gem, We’re fine. I haven’t even gone out (I feel like I’m fighting off a cold). BH went out earlier and reported back on what he saw. Also a neighbor called earlier and said that he was out at 3 *** AM *** helping dig out cars stuck in front of his house. Also heard a stuck car is blocking one turn off from Court Street. We have snow piled up against the back door to the deck — about a foot. Wind seems to have blown much of it off the deck.
My West Coast house guest got stuck in this mess coming back from Manhattan, and had a panic attack trying to get back to us.
I’m staying in today! I’ll venture forth tomorrow to grocery shop for some elderly neighbors, if MET Food or Union Market are open?
Arkady, this is one of those explosive topics, so I usually avoid it here, but I would love to tell you also the evolution of my thinking on this issue. Maybe sometime offline. But essentially I can’t separate the human rights advocacy of any group from the human rights of unborn kids – babies of 500 grams are viable. But that is not to say I haven’t looked at every possible side of this issue. I am willing to sit down and to talk for hours about it, but in a respectful one on one. (Even though I brought it up here). I have don’t know if I ever changed anyone’s thinking (I hope I have) but people who are progressively oriented have been willing to hear me out.

Benson – which side of the street is that on? is that where the car wash is?
wow, Benson. That’s terrifying. How many other roofs can’t handle the weight of that snow?
Not kidding folks.
crap benson, im so going to gawk at that since it’s kinda sorta on my way out for errands. not looking foward to this 🙁
*rob*
Benson!!! – omg are you kidding?
Denton, yes, you are right. I was talking about federal, but you are right about NYS and RF said that too.
Holy smokes!
The roof of the Fatato garage on 4th Ave between 1st and 2nd Street collapsed, with loads of cars inside. FDNY is on the scene.
