A massive, unpermitted addition is being constructed next door and a homeowner is not sure how to get authorities to investigate the unsafe conditions. The builder seems unconcerned about possible fines for working without permits and is moving forward with a multi-story addition, several roof decks and has plans to excavate the basement.
The homeowner has called 311 and reached out to the Department of Buildings but there hasn’t been any action. What other steps should they take to document the illegal activity? How frequently should they register complaints?
Please chime in with your advice.
