Since their brownstone is in a historic district, homeowners are aware that their stoop and walkway renovation project will need to go through the proper permit channels. So far only one of the quotes for the project, the most expensive, includes taking care of permits. All the other contractors are saying the homeowners will need to take care of the paperwork. Should they try to tackle it themselves or is it worth the extra money to have the contractor or an expediter tackle the process?
Please chime in with your advice.
