These handmade-style houses in Upstate New York will have even the most utilitarian homeowner pining for a circular foundation, asymmetric exterior or endless wraparound deck. There are sloping roofs, saunas and mountain views, all at prices that could barely cover many condos downstate.

The properties here are all south of Albany, in Saugerties and East Chatham, and their prices range from $650,000 to $825,000.

Which one would you choose?

This tower house is something of a standalone residential sculpture — or in the words of the listing, “Burning Man meets Opus 40.” The circular home has three bedrooms, two full bathrooms and two half bathrooms spread out over its floors. The five-acre property includes the main house, a guesthouse and at least one tiki head on the grounds. The home has been on and off the market since at least April of 2015, when it was asking $675,000 and Brownstoner last wrote about it.
