Hello Living’s condo development at 618 Washington Avenue in Prospect Heights debuted last week, and the units are priced at an average of $853 a square foot, a little under the $900 developer Eli Karp promised a couple weeks ago. There are four two-bedroom apartments at Hello Washington listed for sale — two at 964 square feet and two at 1,037 square feet, according to StreetEasy. Prices range from $815,000 to $895,000, with one of smaller units clocking in at the priciest for its size — $866 per square foot. Check out the floor plans and some interior photos after the jump. What do you think of the finishes and layouts?

  1. My partner and I visited this building yesterday and weren’t the least bit impressed. The finishes appear to be extremely cheap and the building layout results in lots of lost space in the apartments, particularly in some of the bedrooms. Also did NOT like that the terraces served as the main source of entry to each unit and are not private from the exterior stairwell and elevator shaft – which both seem like they could be a disaster the snow. Seems way over-priced. Only plus we found were the six available parking spaces on the ground floor -though all aren’t covered.

  2. The balcony/terrace design seems likely to make these places really dark. The bedroom balconies seem pointless. The kitchen is weak but is comparable to what you get in new construction now a days. Angled walls are terrible for furniture placement – does this model layout show where the tv goes? Finally, who really wants a bathroom opening directly into the living/dining area? That said, I’m sure these will sell out quickly b/c that’s how things roll these days.

    • “who really wants a bathroom opening directly into the living/dining area?”

Maybe the kithen venting into the living room has a silver lining after all. Lemon garlic chicken is great for covering poo-scent. These guys are strategic and not even getting the credit!

  3. Too close to Atlantic Ave. Big difference in feel versus being closer to Eastern Pkwy. And last time I went to an apartment with non-right-angle-walls it was almost visually disorienting. The kitchen could be remedied with an island, and that smaller room is perfectly fine for a child.

For that money, I’d stick with the COTD from last week on Eastern Pkwy. Prewar > new construction

    • And an island will just make the already-small living “room” smaller. And it still won’t prevent the visual clutter and exhaust from cooking invade the living space. Kitchen with an island in the living room is still not suitable for anyone who actually cooks.

  4. Looks like a fun place to live. I’m a fan of window light and large outdoor spaces, and a bunch more tenants who are going to to keep the new bars and restaurants in business and inspire some new ones!

    Pricey though. Damn.
