Very sorry for all the spam lately. We hope this puts a lid on it.
I’m hoping to get a recommendation for a good cleaning service–not a regular maid service but the kind of folks who clean out houses after the owner has left. The house is an estate condition four story townhouse. Nothing epically nasty or squalid, nor any major debris or carpet removal needed, in fact the house is mostly empty (squeaky clean in some places, decades of grot in others). We just want someone to scrub the fridge out etc. with a lot of elbow grease so it’s nice and livable pre-renovation. I’ve heard there is such a thing that brokers use before they stage vacant properties. Does anyone have any recommendations?
Many thanks for any assistance on this!
Our beloved housekeeper (for over 20 years), Gracie is retiring.
We hope that the Brownstoner community will help us find someone as wonderful, hardworking, trustworthy and reliable.
We have a 3-story Brownstone, with one floor as a furnished Executive rental.
We will also need someone for our own 2-level apartment. At the moment we are remodelling and only one level (kitchen, office, bath and dining) will need service.
If you own or rent near Park Slope and know of someone you personally use, we’d be grateful for the referral.
PLEASE do not contact us with fake endorsements. We’ve been through that on this Forum and will react accordingly. We will check all references.
Thanks for any and all help!
Does anyone have a recommendation for a post-construction cleaning service?
Our 18 year old cat sadly had to be put to sleep last week. As sad as it is to loose the cat, we’re hoping it means our son’s recently diagnosed allergies will improve. (he’s allergic to cats and dust). So we’d like to get a really thorough cleaning done of our apartment. A friend told me there are cleaning services that specialize in ridding your house of cat dander (and other allergens). Can anyone recommend one?
Can anyone recommend a good top to bottom cleaning service. We are moving into a new apartment and looking for a crew to come in and do a good cleaning. Thanks!
My husband and I are soon expecting our first child and want to hire a house cleaner to come on a one time basis in the next week or two (with possible visits in the future, just not on a regular basis). The apartment is in pretty good shape — I’m just less able to get to the tight spots. Does anyone know someone who performs this service? Thanks!
I’m interested to know what’s a reasonable/typical price for post-construction/post-renovation cleaning, whether it’s typically by the job or by the hour etc. We just hired our regular cleaner to do a job next week with a family member, mostly on a floor-through before we move into it, but also on some more common areas, and I want to be sure she’s getting a fair price and also that it’s not a mistake to hire someone who doesn’t specialist in post-renovation cleaning. (it’s a little late for the phase but we’ll have to go through this again in a week when another area is done) Thanks for any feedback.
A neighborhood cat has unfortunately sprayed the area under my stoop stairs. It’s smelled bad for a couple of months now, so simply waiting and airing it out will not do the trick. I’m afraid that when it gets hot this summer the smell will be unbearable. Most of the “remove cat odor” products on the market are for things like upholstery. Any suggestions for the best DIY way to clean/deodorize masonry? I’m thinking I’ll just have to scrub the heck out of it and hose it down (on a warm, dry day) but I’m unsure which cleaning solution to use. Thanks for all advice.
advice/recommendations for very thorough post-renovation cleaner (with experience cleaning lead dust)?
We are just finishing up a renovation in a space that almost definitely had lead paint, and because we have small kids and a pet, we want to make sure we clean it as thoroughly as possible before moving in. Does anyone have experience with this or any recommendations for cleaning services post-renovation (who might have experience with cleaning lead dust)?
Also, any other advice/precautions about cleaning up what’s probably lead dust?
Thanks so much!
Can anyone recommend a house cleaner who works in the general vicinity of Bed Stuy, Bushwick, Williamsburg, or Crown Heights? We are on the border of Bed Stuy and Bushwick. Thanks.
I live in a brownstone duplex in Carroll Gardens and my 18 windows and their storm windows had not been cleaned for 2 years.
I found Clearity Window Cleaning on Angie’s List and emailed them and Ivan Garin promptly called me back. He scheduled the work quickly and he and his crew of two arrived on time to do the job; they gently moved objects and furniture away from the windows and covered the floor, they were focused and professional and the result was spectacular.
They did not rush through the job and my sense at the end is that they were more concerned with perfection than the time involved.
I couldn’t give them a better recommendation. Their number is (646) 510-6616.
I just moved back to the area after being out of town for 4 years. Had a management company running my 3-family building and I am now slowly taking over responsibilities.
I want to hire a porter/janitor to keep the hallways clean and take the garbage/recycling out twice a week. Keeping the guy on who’s doing it now will cost me $250/month which really seems high to me.
Does anyone have recommendations of someone they like who might be more affordable? Or is this the going rate….
I’m in Boerum Hill/Gowanus. Thanks!
Just found out that my cleaning person is moving soon. Does anyone have a recommendation? It would be three floors with two bathrooms. Thanks!
Moving into a new place in a few days, and the bathroom contractor has left it a dusty mess. What machine that I could rent from a Home Depot or Lowes would best clean up the wooden floors? I was thinking of vacuuming it and then using…. what? There must be something that is a very strong cleaner of wood floors. A buffer? Thanks.
hello. can anyone recommend a good cleaning lady to clean a four-story brownstone every two weeks? thank you.
