precinct
We’ve been fascinated by this fortress-like structure at the corner of Liberty and Miller in East New York. Both times we’ve driven by we’ve been sans camera (amateur mistake, we know) so we were psyched to see it included in Forgotten NY’s latest piece rounding up former Police precincts. As FNY notes, this particular one, which served as the People’s First Baptist Church back in the 70s, would probably have already been turned in to condos were it in just about any other neighborhood. We have to admit that we were just admiring the inventory of nice old buildings in East New York on our way back from JFK the other day. We also noticed that a beautiful old warehouse, visible from the raised roadway over Atlantic, is in the process of being gutted. It would be interesting to know what for.
