This was the kind of storm that’ll make you ‘get religion’ real quick! One of my cats is still very upset. And I’m pretty sure he was praying.
———
This is for Snappy’s praying cat:
And there shall be … a place of refuge and a shelter from storm and from rain. Is 4:6
I would hasten to escape and and to find a shelter from the stormy wind and tempest. Ps 55:8
He hushes the storm to a calm and to a gentle whisper, so that the waves of the sea are still. Ps. 107:29
And for Snappy’s praying cat:
And suddenly, behold, there arose a violent storm on the sea, so that the boat was being covered up by the waves: but He was sleeping.
And they went and awakened Him, saying Lord, rescue and preserve us! We are perishing!
And He said to them, Why are you timid and afraid, O you of little faith? Then He got up and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great and wonderful calm (a perfect peaceableness).
And the men were stunned with bewildered wonder and marveled, saying, What kind of Man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey Him!
(Matthew 8:24-27)
In Williamsburg by the Graham Ave. L stop — Hail, rotating winds, lightning and sideways rain..
Got caught in the storm while commuting home (by bike via the Queensboro Bridge) — posted a few photos as the rain died down approaching Park Slope:

Slopefarm: I’ll see your Neil Young and CCR, and raise you a Bob Dylan:
“SHELTER FROM THE STORM” – Bob Dylan – lyrics

Big tree down on 13th b/w 4th & 5th, with several trunks leaning against big old green frame house with a mansard roof.
I’ll see your Jim Morrison and raise you a Neil Young and a CCR:
You are like a hurricane
There’s calm in your eye.
And I’m gettin’ blown away
To somewhere safer
where the feeling stays.
I want to love you but
I’m getting blown away.

Long as I remember, The rain been comin’ down.
Clouds of myst’ry pourin’ Confusion on the ground.
Good men through the ages, Tryin’ to find the sun;
And I wonder, Still I wonder, Who’ll stop the rain.
Which reminds me — did anyone see Vanilla Ice in the NYT home section doing reno and flip? Hope he puts a good water barrier around the foundation. Ice ice baby, no mold, no mold.
