agreed, denton. While these NBA stars might not be running Wall Street any time soon, court sense at that level is not just a matter of instinct. These guys study up on each other’s tendencies, moves, they learn lots of plays and defense strategies, all with multiple options that they have to decide on in the blink of an eye. THe best passers master angles, geometry, etc. It’s not academics, but your brain better be on its A game at that level.
Not to mention, LBJ, Dwayne and CB pulled a market-fixing stunt that should have anti-trust lawyers in awe of them.
But LBJ did a real PR blunder. Why would you bring in all those NY area kids into the room to tell them live, on camera, that you are not coming? It was like all those boys in Mr. Smith goes to Washington finding out live, on the Senate floor, that one of their senators was on teh take at their expense. This came off as a lot crueler than it needed to be.
Glad it’s so far so good with the Lee brothers. I’m sure they won’t let you down. M4L’s guys are Chinese too but it’s been really crowded there whenever I’ve tried to get my wheels aligned!
can we trade Amar’e to Nuggets for Carmelo? Nuggets might as well get back a stud vs losing Carmelo in free agency and get zilch. if we pull this off, we can gun for Chris Paul in off season.
Brooklyn Buyers Speak! Brownstoner’s Third & Bond blog is so in the homestretch (week 138!) that the developers of the Carroll Gardens building are interviewing the youngsters in contract to buy apartments. Read this couple’s answers to questions like, “Are you worried about the Gowanus Canal?” and “Do you think Whole Foods will ever open?” and “Aren’t you afraid of what the commenters will say at the end of this interview?” OK, we made that last one up, but we salute their bravery. [Brownstoner]
I just told someone that my desk is stacked up like planes over LaGuardia and they’ll have to wait their turn to land. Not sure they took it in the humor with which it was intended.
“Does anyone have a reccomendation for an auto body work specialist (wife just clipped a truck and ripped off the passenger side mirror and fucked up the door)?”
No but I have a recommendation for a good driving school.
Sorry, L, couldn’t resist, hope Mrs. L isn’t too shook up. Always depressing to pull one of those.
Glad to see you found a place, ABC on 4th Ave is pretty good also.
lech, a grand sounds low. just to paint & clear coat the door is ~800 (freaking multiple clear coats . the side mirror probably set you back for another 300. even if they dont hammer out the door dents (ie just put puddy over it then scrape/mold it to match door’s profile), that’s 200. I would mentally prepare for at least 1500
“1) Take nap
2) Do laundry
3) Have fun with human beings”
*rob*, I previously offered for you to do laundry in my building, and I also provided you with an option for number 3) on donatella’s list. I draw the line at putting you down for a nap though. :-/

I wouldn’t characterize high paid sports athletes as stupid, even if they don’t have an engineering degree. Same with hip hop artists etc.
imo no one makes it to the top of anything without being pretty smart. bball needs some smarts like most things.
