And it wasn’t much better at PS 154 in Windsor Terrace where only 18 out of 215 made the cut. That’s why The Daily News is declaring a Pre-K crisis in Brownstone Brooklyn.

I never went to nursery school, pre-K or kindergarten.

Take that as a data point.

Welcome back, benson! But be careful — it seems like you’re really asking for it with that remark! 🙂

Oh wait, this isn’t the OT, so we can assume everyone will behave themselves in this thread.

A friend of mine said there was a time PS 321 had a few staffers who were psycho-crazy in dealing with perceived racial arguments among the children. Like, labeling kids as being prejudicial and discriminatory over common school incidents.”

Well, then they are well preparing them for the Park Slope mindset!!

  4. If people are holding their kids back so they can overpower the competition the next year, carry that to the obvious extreme, and in 20 years, all kindergarteners will be 18 years old. Gives new meaning to bullying in the classroom.

  5. Speaking as a parent, just because I want to enroll my child in Pre-K doesnt mean that I am lazy or looking for a “free babysitter”. I want to enroll my child because it is the same school I attended and I have so many wonderful memories and it was a great experience I would like that for my daughter as well. The fact that she may not get a seat because there are so many people who are only moving into the area to be in the school zone is infuriating.

  6. Biff, that’s wonderful.

People want their children to be better than they were. And we need exceptional people. I’m starting to totally believe in these things. The world has serious, grave problems and we need exceptional people to deal with them when we are too old to do it ourselves.
