Only 12 Out of 475 Applicants Got Into PS 321's Pre-K Program This Year
And it wasn’t much better at PS 154 in Windsor Terrace where only 18 out of 215 made the cut. That’s why The Daily News is declaring a Pre-K crisis in Brownstone Brooklyn.

sorry but little Dakota and Josh aren’t going to america’s next top neurosurgeon no matter how many french flash cards you shove in their face at 4 years old.

Why should priority be given to people of lower income just because the rich can afford private pre k? EVERYONE pays taxes, EVERYONE should have the same priority. Now if there was a tax cut for people that don’t send there kids to public school then it might make sense but I’m paying my fair share of taxes and I want my fair share of services.
“Public pre-K admissions should be income-driven. That is, admissions should give priority to lower-income families. There are sufficient private pre-K spots in brownstone Brooklyn.”
Forget that. We all pay the taxes that support these schools, we should all have equal access.

So how do they determine who gets in and who doesn’t? Lottery?
many of the slots are already spoken for through sibling preference, thus 12 openings in a class of 18.
There are many pre-k programs in district 15, but most with room are only half-day. The full-day programs are the most desired, for obvious reasons.
here’s the thing… Pre-K is essential tax payer subsidized baby sitting. if you can’t afford a nanny (which you probably can) then you will have to send your kids to another school. wait, didnt you move to brooklyn from the suburbs cuz you cherish “diversity?” oh that’s right, diversity as in 10 different kinds of ethnic restaurants on your block, not real diversity.. :-/
you wont get a lot of sympathy for not getting into ps321. which should be renamed PS321: Village of the Damned.

I agree, Brooklyn Chicken. Especially since Pre-K attendance is not mandated by the state.
PHew! We were zoned for 321 and that would have been our year to start Pre-K. Glad we re-located and had no headaches and an equally as lovely school.
Pre-K classes are limited to 18 children. I don’t know about 321, but most public elementary schools have only two pre-K classes.

The horror! The horror!
