Man Riding Bike Very Slowly Next to Pedestrian Girlfriend Slapped With Ticket
As the guy says, “meanwhile drug deals are going on on the corners across the street [and] people are riding motorcycles up and down the block with no helmets.” More details on Brooklynian.

In other news, I saw a bicyclist walking his bike crash into a bicyclist slow-rolling. Both against the green light at the exit ramp from the manhattan bridge – stupid whether riding or walking, either way. Anyway, they crashed into each other because neither would make way for the other – the chicken game gone bad. But neither said a word! Just looked po’d and continued on in silence. Bizarre, but entertaining to me and the other guy waiting to roll into the Christie Street bike lane…
Haha, New Yorkers sure are a grumpy bunch.
Tokyo has 10 times the number of bike riders as New York and they all ride on the sidewalk. A Tokyo sidewalk is half the size of a New York one. They also rarely lock up the bike, even over night. Common courtesy and empathy for others is an awesome thing. Give it a try you may like it.
good, i am glad this guy got a ticket. i am bike rider and i HATE when i see people riding their bikes on the sidewalk. so obnoxious.
This kind of stuff used to only happen to brothers.
I had 8 German (Austrian?) tourists ride by me last night on the sidewalk in the Heights. Slowly, mind you, but I was irate. They were all wearing different replica jerseys (Silence -Lotto, QuicksStep, Saxo). I was telling them it was illegal, they would get a ticket. They were all speaking German acting like they didn’t understand. When I drew my golf umbrella back behind my head to wind up a two-hander, they got the idea and moved onto the street.
i dont ride a bike or own one, and find cyclists to be the most annoying breed out there, but if i did, ill sure as hell ride it wherever the hell i want. even on the sidewalk. kids are allowed to do it, why not adults?
*rob*
@ncdelisauce You too! I had a guy jogging in the bike lane on PPW headed right toward me.Made me wonder if i was in fact just dreaming i was biking in the bike lane in the lane appropriate for the direction going.
Speaking of the new bike lanes along PPW, I’ve noticed 2 separate instances of people walking in the lanes. One was a nanny pushing a stroller — apparently the sidewalk was too bumpy and she was trying to get the kid to fall asleep.
I wonder what would happen if the guy had claimed that he didn’t have any ID. Would they have probable cause to search him for ID? Would they have bothered to arrest him (that’s what they always claim they’ll do)?
