This one-bedroom rental is located at 585 6th Avenue, which launched this summer as a new 27-unit residential building. The interior looks quite nice, but what caught our eye was the price tag: $4,200 a month for a one-bedroom, one-bathroom between 16th Street and Prospect. The square footage isn’t listed but we sure hope this place is big! Otherwise that’s a pretty big nut for the location. Update: Looks like there was a mistake in this particular listing. One bedrooms are $2600 and the two bedrooms are $3200, there are no $4,200 units. The links have been changed to reflect.

  1. @ NYGuy7: A virtual doorman is someone that mans the door from a (central) off site location. They have a camera view of the front door and the lobby and can buzz in people on “approved” lists (Fed Ex, Fresh Direct, etc) and e-sign for the packages.

  2. That area isn’t fringe. You’re literally trying to say one block outside the 15th st boundary of Park Slope is fringe which makes no sense. There a couple other new condo buildings near there that have filled up so it’s still a desirable area. Is it 4,200 for 1 bedroom worthy? Not in my opinion since that 2bd 2ba condo from yesterday on 7th Ave north of this place is renting for 3,000. But whatever, there are apparently people willing to pay that in rent for a brand new furnished apartment.

Lastly, WTF is a virtual doorman?

  3. we were right – the unit is 2600

11217 – cry me a river – we were saying the neighborhood doesn’t command 4200 one bedrooms, not dissing on the mediocre places you feel the need to walk 20 blocks to patronize. xoxoxo

  4. My issue was not defending the asinine prices as much as it is defending what is actually a very nice part of town.

Just because it’s not a “HOT” area doesn’t mean it’s not lovely, rather quiet, super close to the park and to a lot of other great amenities…Union Market, Beer table, Thistle Hill, new Guiseppina’s, yes, LOT2, Brooklyn Pub.

It has a really nice feeling of tranquility down in this area which some people really enjoy.
