Rental of the Day: 585 6th Avenue
This one-bedroom rental is located at 585 6th Avenue, which launched this summer as a new 27-unit residential building. The interior looks quite nice, but what caught our eye was the price tag: $4,200 a month for a one-bedroom, one-bathroom between 16th Street and Prospect. The interior looks quite nice, but what caught our eye was the price tag: $4,200 a month for a one-bedroom, one-bathroom between 16th Street and Prospect. The square footage isn’t listed but we sure hope this place is big! Otherwise that’s a pretty big nut for the location. Update: Looks like there was a mistake in this particular listing. One bedrooms are $2600 and the two bedrooms are $3200, there are no $4,200 units. The links have been changed to reflect.

Mopar, go back and read some of Boerum Hill’s recent comments, and you could ask him the same question. I’m just getting tired of the ugliness. This is a well-written blog and if he doesn’t like it, it’s time for him to go read something else.
Still overpriced at $2600 for that part of town, but not quite on the level of outrageousness, especially for new construction with some greenwashing thrown in.
I don’t get the need for people to get all nasty with each other, btw.
Waaaaaa? Bennie, why are you being so harsh?
Beorum Hill, what the fuck is your problem? You must have a miserable, sorry life and you’re probably very ugly and lonely too. This was an error originally made by the listing realtor. Get a life and don’t be such a dick.
I read the newspaper daily, I pay for it and guess what? I find a typo somewhere in it every fucking day. It’s called cutbacks, deal with it, you anal retentive asshole.
Since when is 2600 a lot for a one bedroom with amenities?
ditto: wtf is a virtual doorman?
why did two agencies previously have the listing and now don’t have it?
why are the interiors so plain?
I toured this place. The sales agent said the developer intended it to be condos, but the market went south, so they are renting it out, but it will go condo when prices go up.
Me: So if the market improves in a year, my lease won’t be renewed?
Sales Agent: Umm, you can buy the condo!
“11217 – what do you think now that it’s confirmed as a typo?”
I think that $2600 is within $100 of what I said these would probably rent for (I said $2500).
These are no fee, so that has to be taken into the equation too, and boosts the price a tad.
Still a heckuva lot of money for a 1 bedroom.
11217’s three month blogocide was probably a maternity leave.
11217 – what do you think now that it’s confirmed as a typo?
There’s something about using the expression “big nut” to describe monthly rent that just seems tasteless.
Do people actually say that in real life?
