This two-bedroom rental in Prospect Heights’ Newswalk building is asking a hefty $6,000/month. There’s plenty of space—2,000 square feet, according to the listing—and the photos give the sense that it has a nice, lofty feel. The building also boasts a doorman, gym, and a roof deck. (We’ve also heard there’s a big construction project going on very close to the building, but that may not count as an amenity.) Anyhow, does the asking rent seem reasonable to you?

  1. “Nucking futs.”

LMAO! And I agree with Snark. I pay 2/3 the price for a 2 bedroom on the Brooklyn Heights-Cobble Hill border with a garden. As Crazy Eddie would say, the price is INSANE!

  2. I’m guessing this is what happens when an owner looks at their monthly mortgage + maintenance charges + profit margin to determine a suitable rent, instead of looking at what the local market can bear.

  3. Oh, there it is.

Hard to get a sense of the space/layout/light with just the pictures.

Well, it’s obviously a high end apt and building….but $6000 is too high. Not sure if by as much as Maly’s saying — 30-35% — hard to judge this kind of apartment in that neighborhood. But definitely too high. (Uh, unless they get it….then, obviously not too high, ahem….)
