The original beams are a nice touch, matched with the exposed brick and the huge window. At 663 square feet, though, it has some compromises to contend with: the kitchen is practically non-existent, and there’s room upstairs for not much more than a bed. Do you think it’ll fetch the asking rent of $2,200 a month?

why not?
There’s a second bathroom upstairs? Why?

Yes, rob, some of us do. My place is the standard for tacky and ugly. I hope to move beyond living in a place that looks like it was furnished with curbside furniture by a broke college student within the next year.
ha. actually pretty much all my furniture is curbside furniture. ive never bought a new piece of furniture either! but there’s a way to make that work, and then there’s this crap.

“Avalon blows the Gowanus out of the filthy water. And I don’t even like it.”
Really? I’d much rather live in this location for *less* than what it would cost for a comparable apt in the Avalon.
Just one big ass window and $2,200/mo. “Here suckas” is right.
Still, 499k/(2200×12) = 19 GRM! This crash will end very badly.
Avalon blows the Gowanus out of the filthy water. And I don’t even like it.

I saw the unit at an open house. It’s opposite a school/playground so could be noisy — also the laundry room is right outside unit across the hall. I think they can get the rental $ since it’s good for 1 person or a couple.
They’ll get their price. Very little rental inventory in CG – and any decent 1 bedrooms are 2100+
wow. do people really furnish their apartments that tacky and ugly? i mean it’s not even tacky in a cool way, it’s just flat out fugly. you would think someone who could afford to pay that amount for that apartment would get some nicer furnishings and throw away all that yard sale garbage.
