The New York Times reported on Friday that this colossal triplex is finally posted, for $25 million. The Times notes that the highest price ever paid for a home in Brooklyn was $11 million in 2006, and the highest for a condo was $7 million, also at One Main Street, in 2008. Even though the market is in a slump, Mr. Walentas said that the space, a three-floor, 6,288-square-foot apartment with four functional 14-foot clocks, is such a unique home that it will require a one-of-a-kind buyer willing to foot the bill. $4000/sqft seems impossible – requires some person driven insane with money to will its reality into existence. and the recent economy has seemed to have a strong anti-psychotic on the stratospheically wealthy. yeah, maybe 10mil.
also, agree with mrs. limestone, that the interior was somehow less impressive than i expected. the clocks are amazing, and that central elevator/stairwell is amazing. for instance, the sloped ceilings in the master bedroom are kind of cool in an apartment that isn’t worth its space/time in 2007 hedge funds, but at that price it seems a little cramped with small windows.

It’s 6,288 sq. ft., so at $1,000 psf it’s worth $6.3MM. Because of the uniqueness of the unit and the most amazing views you’d ever find anywhere in NYC, add another $2MM or so. I say it doesn’t go for more than $10MM.
ha! that’s funny. it only just occurred to me just the other day what is meant by xxx amount per square foot. i mean i KNEW what it meant, but it didnt hit me until i stood on the floor and imaginarily marked myself in a square foot. then was like, wow this costs xxx for just this spot where i can barely stand. wtf!? how the hell can a square foot of something cost more than a playstation 3?!

I’d love to live in an apartment with a huge fabulous clock window like this one. But the interior is somewhat lackluster for 25 big ones. Granted, I’m not where near the target audience for this pad but for that kind of dough, it shouldn’t just be the clock that has wow factor.
