RE Greed Reaches New Level in Cobble Hill

Most New Yorkers are pretty used to tales of landlords evicting tenants in the pursuit of profit maximization. But even the most hardened free-marketeer must have raised his eyebrows at yesterday’s report of two elederly sisters being kicked out of the Cobble Hill townhouse where they grew up by their nephew, Joseph DeLeonibus. Adding another layer of intrigue was the listing for the Cheever Place property on Corcoran: “House is being offered for $999,999, without seeing it, without inspecting it, must close in 30 days, must be all cash and must take tenants in place.” Sounds a little desperate to us. There must be more to the story.
Hit the Bricks, Granny! [NY Daily News]
Both you and Larry should not point fingers and judge my husband. Both of you have no idea what went on after you left for Florida. You have no right to judge him
Angela and Larry, You have no idea what happened over the years. Joe and I got stuck with Katie, Lenny and his wife after Annie died. Nobody wanted to pay rent. I really should not have to explaine anything to you. After your reply comming from people who left their Uncle Vito stranded. You just took off on him. If it were’t for Joe and I there was nobody to take care of him. All you did Larry was take money from him when you did him a favor. He would tell my husband Joe that he was his only nephew. He said all wanted was to grab money.
I thought you were better than that,Joe. I would never imagine that you could do something like that to your aunts. Larry is appalled as I am that you can do this. Tomorrow 1/30 was Anthony’s birthday, think of how he would feel about his mom and aunt. How would your mom feel?
I’m related by marriage to one of Joseph’s cousins, all I have to say is it is a shame that he is doing this to his mother’s sisters. I only wish Anthony was here to see how is mother is suffering.
Lenny you really need to help you mom.
This is for Anomymous @ 11/26. You have no idea what you are talking about. You can’t know Jean that well. She has not lived there for fourty years. She moved there in 1983, you do the math. She did not move there after her husband died. As for Katie, she didn’t move there because she wanted to be near her sisters. Her grandson lost the house she was living in. He took out a mortgage and did not pay for it. Thats how she came to live there. Do you know where the dissapointment should lie, in people not knowing the true story and talking about it. If you are so fond of Jean, do something about her son Lenny robbing her SS check and using her food stamps for beer and smokes.
Is it still considered mooching if you spent your whole life there? I know Jean personally. She is a very sweet woman. I do not understand how you people can think that they should have to leave. Jean has slept in the same bedroom for that last 40 years(since her husband died) that she slept in in her childhood. This is not mooching. This is what family does. Joey’s father Guiseppi, who bought the house after it was mortgaged, let Jean stay there from the kindness of his heart. He was a great man, and would be disappointed to see that his son is so heartless. As for Katie, she rented the third floor apartment so she could live with her sisters. They still live the way that we talk about…back in the “good ol days.”
What I just saw really shows what kind of people we are dealing with. Lenny Visconti and the merry old sisters saw it fit to decorate the front stoop with Christmas decorations. I did’t know you could buy decorations with food stamps. The sister died in March, I thought loving families mourned their dead, I guess they wern’t that close. Who is paying the Con Edison bill anyway? The LL gets stuck with that also. Somebody should tell deadbeat dads that Lenny Visconti is working at Roadside Roses on Staten Island. It happens to be owned by sister Carmarda’s grandson.
The truth will be known. Katherine Carmarda is not the inocent little old lady as seen on TV. Leonard Visconti and his wife are crack heads and using his mothers welfare check to do so. The news should talk to the people who know. Not the few who are on the old ladies side.
I’m a close neighbor I know.
I here the older sister and her family robbed her second husband as he slept in his bed. I think one of her grandsons put the house on fire. All the sisters were nuts and the whole block hated them.
