Prospect Park South Standalone With Calico Wallpaper Revamp, Garage Asks $3.295 Million

The lush details in this Slee & Bryson Colonial Revival in the Prospect Park South Historic District have remained intact after a design update by the owners of Calico Wallpaper. The stylish makeover of 197 Rugby Road was featured in Elle Decor after the couple purchased the house in 2019 for $2.995 million, and now it is back on the market.

The interior details in evidence when the early 20th century single-family was a House of the Day in 2019 are still in here, including the entry hall’s inglenook, wood burning fireplace, wainscoting and staircase. There have been some tweaks though, including painting the coffered ceiling white and adding two Calico wallpapers. ‘Fragments’ adorns the reception area while the shimmery ‘Eden’ glows on the walls of the inglenook.

The layout on the first floor includes a generously sized living room, a dining room with mid-20th century built-in and a kitchen with breakfast nook. The kitchen isn’t pictured, but from the description of cork floors and butcher block counters it sounds as the previous redo was left intact.

Upstairs are three bedrooms and 2.5 baths. One of those is en suite to the largest bedroom and the listing says it has been “refinished,” but there aren’t any photos to reveal changes. There are three more bedrooms and another full bath on the third floor.

As with the upper floors, the layout to the finished basement hasn’t changed since the house’s previous update. It contains a rec room, steam room and laundry. The previous revamp also included central air and updated mechanicals.

There is a garage and a paved rear yard with a curved stone bench and some planting beds.

Listed with Tay Kim and Adam Pacelli of Compass, it is asking $3.295 million. Worth it?
