Note: We’re moving this post up from yesterday to encourage more input.Welcome to the third annual installment of our market prognostications. Last year, we picked Prospect Heights and Carroll Gardens to outperform and Williamsburg to slump, which in retrospect look like pretty good calls. As for next year, our eyes will be on the areas bordering Prospect Park that have the location and housing stock on their sides but have yet to attract widespread interest from the gentrifying crowd. We’d also be front-running the newly Brooklyn-focused Landmarks Preservation Commission by looking in spots like the soon-to-be-designated Crown Heights North. On the downside, it’s hard to see how increasing supply of run-of-the-mill condos coming on line in Williamsburg won’t continue to put downward pressure on prices. We’re not as wary about the effect of Atlantic Yards on surrounding real estate as some and continue to think that Prospect Heights has a lot to offer. As has been mentioned before, quality brownstones should continue to find buyers while those in more marginal neighborhoods and lacking architectural detail will likely have a tough time. Looking back on last year’s post, we can be thankful that we got our wish of a gourmet market (sorta) in the form of Choice. Now if we could just get a friggin’ cheese shop we’d be really psyched.
Market Predictions for 2006 [Brownstoner]
She’s worth it.
now that 12:09 has officially posted his…what…200th comment on this thread trying to singlehandedly spearhead the movement against ps moms, i think it’s safe to say….i’m totally over your ignorant, childish, whiny and downright disgusting remarks. i hope next time a ps mom tries to punch your lights out instead of bumping into your precious little dog, kitten, foot, whatever.
you know what they say about those with little dogs….
yup.
and i’m sure i could find plenty of evidence to back that one up…
go read the postings yourself. i’m not going to spoonfeed you the evidence that the stores are fabricated. you seem to have enough time on your hands to read them all, post a billion times and still manage to not make a single valid point.
She must cost you more than your rent
Well, tomorrow night a nice, tight 20 year old will be in her place, so she’ll be able to traipse off to Tribeca or wherever she wants. lol
12:17,
That comment makes me feel sad for that poor girl. She probably is fantasizing about a stud with a loft in Tribeca, not a slovenly renter in Park Slope pulling caffe lattes for a living. Awww.
11:48, tonight I’ll be getting some from a nice, tight 22 year old woman. That must eat away at your gut like an acid.
“well i think what 11:36 is saying is that you and the other people who have been trashing ps moms simply don’t know what’s going on in their minds.”
When you criticize people for inappropriate behavior, or praise them for good behavior, do YOU know what’s going on in THEIR minds? If so, what’s the trick? If you don’t have some special access to the contents of other people’s minds that the rest of us lack, then it seems odd to say that it’s okay for you to praise/criticize others and yet it’s not okay for others to offer praise or criticism. Don’t ya think?
“…many of these stories about ps moms have been fabricated..”
Okay..ummm…care to back this up with a little evidence?
well i think what 11:36 is saying is that you and the other people who have been trashing ps moms simply don’t know what’s going on in their minds. i think she is trying to give you some examples about how some of the overly sensitive singles who live in park slope have misinterpreted interactions they have had with ps moms. if you will take a look at some of the many other sites that are writing about this very subject right now, you will see that many of these stories about ps moms have been fabricated. i really think this thread has been talked to death, and now that it has been picked up by gawker and the brooklyn record, i suggest those of you who value living in slope (i am one of them) need to realize that the nasty things you say reflect on you and the entire neighborhood. don’t project your anger and bitterness into sterotyping a segment of the population. it’s ignorant. do all of those who value and cherish park slope a favor and stop sending signals to the rest of the city that you are rude, nasty people who sit around all day with the sole purpose of bashing mothers who are doing their best to raise kids in this crazy city. it’s insanity.
-not a mom
as a ps dad, i’ll be happy to kick the living daylights out of any asshole who has the nerve to say any of this crap in person.
let’s take a poll: how many of these anti-ps mom comments are by unmarried (straight or gay) people? i’ll take 9 to 1 odds that 90% are by singles.
guess they just can’t stomach their inability to have families. talk about emasculated!
