I with you, stuy blkbuttrflie.
re Dru at 2:44 “”fringe” area in the days of imminent bubble collapse.”-
Bed Stuy was coming up long before the RE bubble got so big. In NYC I think any RE investment is good- at least in the brownstone neighborhoods. The beauty of the houses are a big plus and its a totally different lifestyle than the huge impersonal boxes going up everywhere. My own feeling is that RE in these areas will not go down much. But I’m not expert- part of this may be wishful thinking on my part.
I’ve seen the 6th Avenue place – it was listed for 1.65 originally and has been price chopped down. The 2 one bedroom apartments are nice, but the owner’s duplex is dark – not much natural light. The bedrooms are downstairs, and seem almost dank, for want of a better word. The kitchen desperately needs updating.
oh the above comments are mine.
yea, I’m certainly for freedom of speech but there’s a difference between citing your opinion and starting a riot. if the person had just said I’m so glad I can afford a property in park slope or something like that that would be fine but to go out of your way to call a neighborhood icky is over the top especially here. it would be better if we stayed on topic and comments like that ensure that we won’t.
regarding the bedstuy properties. the clinton house is in an area that would generally be considered nicer than the other property but I personally think they’re both overpriced. Bainbridge street is landmarked to Stuyvesant Ave but this property is between Howard and Saratoga which is pretty far down. also you’re going to be passing a few housing projects to get to the train station. the house itself seems to be in pretty decent condition but I almost positive that the other houses on that street aren’t as nice.
trolls are so so so boring…at least make an attempt to be good at it
Can anybody comment on the locations of the two BedStuy properties? The Clifton Place property looks particularly nice, but I am nervous buying in a “fringe” area in the days of imminent bubble collapse.
Oh c’mon. She can state her opinion.
I think the ridiculous and unnecessary comment at 1:23 should be removed, its not constuctive at all not to mention its going to take this discussion in a whole different direction that we’ve all seen too many times.

My wife and I looked at this place three years ago and passed on it. It looks like they put in new kitchen cabinets, but I guess they didn’t have room for the fridge! The existing Kitchen is very narrow. Also, the headroom in the basement is low. The only bathroom upstairs did not have a shower!
On the plus side, it is on a quiet, well maintained block, kind of off the beaten path. The backyard felt spacious.
I think it was listed around $580,000 when we saw it. Incidentally, we ended up purchasing a similar house about 15 blocks away for less–and it was pretty much in original condition.
If you are interested in Bay Ridge, you may want to keep looking. It’s a pretty decent place to live (we used to live in PS).
