I\’m with you, Matt. It\’s harder to discern who\’s posting, and how they\’re posting, than most webmasters realize. In this case, I\’m confident a mistake was made. CHP should not be allowed to go scott free for what she did, IMHO.
re: 33 Middagh: the restoration looks better in pics than it does irl. it’s very Home Depot altho current owners have furnished it rather well. also, the “finished basement” is really a cellar. the A/C unit cut out in the front of the bldg is awful (and not really pictured).
I think there are places on Joralemon and Cranberry still available that are in the low 2s and are a much better value.
Right, $2m for a house in BklynHts sounds cheap – but thats about $1300-$1400 per sq ft. Does that seem reasonable? (remember no outdoor space -so compare to condo pricing + premium for historic touches)
$2M for a 1 BR house?? the restoration looks fantastic, but $2M for a 1 BR house?? God Bless…
Just for the record, Brownstoner, I believe you made a bad call on the thread announcing the launch of a new PLG blog. You didn’t ban the real trouble makers and I’ve already seen them posting in other threads.
Just my two cents.
Oops, sorry — going the wrong way on Middagh St there — the asphalt shingle special was between Hicks and Henry.
I lived at 55 Middagh St for years in the 1980s — these are tiny wood-frame houses — whereas 55 Middagh was (and still is, last I walked by) beautiful, with nicely painted clapboards, 33 Middagh was strictly asphalt shingle city. A great block, however — I love the North Heights.
There are actually some very pretty houses on the Vanderbilt block. I remember looking at a place there four years ago and their were protesters about some issue at WBAI (which may be some indication of the hippy nature of some of the residents). The noise of the BQE is a bit of a downer. The interior of the house looks like mine was four years ago. Of course at several times the price!
I think I spent part of my bachelor party night in the Vanderbilt House but it’s all a little foggy now.
