  1. Well, that was interesting. I’m amazed at the detailed knowledge so many of you have about Brooklyn Neighborhoods- that what makes the forum so valuable. I know I learned a lot from reading Bob’s and Linusvanpelt’s posts. I did think the PLG house was really beautiful- it looks huge, but could that be the camera?

I agree with Crown Heights Proud about brokers. My favorite open house was one being held by a major Real Estate broker and asking about 1.3 mil. Yet they couldn’t be bothered to remove the big pink toilet tank from the garden or the telephone dangling from the tree. And I won’t begin to tell you about the totally cheesy kitchen they built (Home Despot all the way). And the new tile in the bathroom that stuck out about 2 inches from the wall because they simply laid it over the old tiles.

By the way, the City quite a few years ago began planning for Sunset Park to be an “up & coming” area. They have been upgrading technical resources in the area since before 2001, trying to attract hi-tech businesses. I was researching that when we were fighting to keep E278 open,

  2. I have houses in Lefferts Manor and Sunset Park – very close to this one. SP is very cool, I personally prefer the blocks from 5th to 6th Aves as they are on top of the hill and further from the Gowanus Expressway. That said, some of the most beautiful blocks are between 4th and 5th. Most of the nicer houses are three floors and a cellar with the garden floor being at ground level. Then there are a lot of 2 1/2 story homes with English basements. Of course there are a scattering of 4 story brownstones as well, not to mention the tenements…

Fun nabe, nice park with a new waterfront park soon to arrive.

  3. I went out to the movies and missed the real drama.

Nonny – glad you like it. Wear it well.

Bob – you are very cool in my book.

    Brownstoner – thank you.

I’m going to repair some plaster this weekend, and probably shovel snow. Have a great weekend everyone.

  4. I\’m somewhat familiar with Sunset Park and I think it\’s a good deal. Sunset Park has some nice buildings, and it hasn\’t had the life \’gentrified\’ out of it. It\’s also safer than, say, Lefferts. There plenty to be said for it.

  5. Sunset Park house is not a good deal. The people who state it is a good deal also state they are not familiar with SP. That’s like saying I think a house in clinton hill is a good deal, but i don’t really know what’s going on in clinton hill. Location, location, location. Also: location.

  6. A dysfunctional soap opera, perhaps. My guess is that Brownnoser will be banned. Someone on the PLG crew had it in for him and arranged it on the sly. Just a guess. Looking back at it all, Noser was not one of the haters.
