Another nomination for an open house pick: 100 Garfield (5th-6th). Sunday, 12-2, by Corcoran. This is an amazing, unique house in a row of striking houses. I often adjust my walking route just to pass it. I wish I could make the OH. $2.75M does seem kind of high though. The house sold for $790K in 1999.
Clinton hill starts on the odd-numbered side of Vanderbilt.
Having said that:
Vanderbilt is really loud. I lived on Vanderbilt for 20+ years; the b69 screeches as it goes up the hill, and you can never find parking.
That house is pretty far from the train — 1.8 seems like a lot for it, when you can get something quite nice (e.g. 343 Waverly) for less than a million.
Clinton Hill/Bed Sty-all I know is that Fresh Direct deliver up to Franklin and won’t go no further-maybe that says more than all this pointless discussuion.
Clinton Hill starts at Vanderbilt, not Clinton, right?
I’m pretty sure bedstuy starts at Classon — anon 6:58
Nativegal,
Just want to tell you that your posts about PLG are always right on! Thank you.
Prospect-Lefferts Garden is a really nice neighborhood whether the NY Times recognizes it or not. However it isn’t for everyone. The good thing is it doesn’t have to be.
If you’re looking for bars or trendy restuarants then it isn’t for you. If you want to own a home within walking distance to the many of NYC’s cultural institutions, near the park and where your neighbors invite you into their homes then. Another cool thing is that your neighbors won’t necessarily look like you, no matter what you look like.
The tudors in the article (and this one) are on Chester Court. This is across Flatbush from Lefferts Manor, which is much nicer. However, this is the third Chester Court house to come on the market in the last year, which means the street is turning better fast. These houses are nice, and worth it if you are willing to bet that the rest of the houses on this block will follow suit in short order.
Am I remembering this right, or did you have a NY Times article posted about the tudor homes in Prospect Lefferts Gardens and how it was a really nice neighborhood?
