awn_chaoc- The Corcoran listing at 392A Bainbridge is deceiving! It’s also a gut job, and everything that looks like wood detailing has actually been painted (sloppily) brown. Same owner (flipper) as 383.
bfarwell, I sense that you’re the type of person who can never be pleased by anything!!! 🙂
You may have found the worst listing I’ve ever seen!!!
I think its obvious luxury, as noted by both the exterior photo and the luminous descriptions, speak for themselves.
I noticed that the Bergen Street house is also being shown on Sunday from noon to 2pm through another agency.
But, bfarwell, that house has no interior pictures at all. Or was that the idea?
Has anyone been to see the other property on Bainbridge that Corcoran is showing at 392A Bainbridge (http://www.corcoran.com/property/listing.aspx?Region=NYC&ListingID=1329149)? I’ve been watching this for a while, and it looks great from the pictures. The price has been dropping steadily from 700K according to streeteasy.
(I feel like one of the problems in finding cheaper listings out there is that they are often poorly represented online; no exteriors… or no interiors, or one random shot of an unidentifiable room. So getting something in that pricepoint which is we could even start to look at is a bit more of a challenge.)
But really, I just wanted to nominate this house, which I’ve been following for a number of months:

Bainbridge isn’t just blah, it’s poorly done in a way that implies that whoever did it was a complete imbecile.
Electrical panels the middle of feature walls, gross baseboard radiators randomly terminating, isolated fireplace right across from a home despot kitchen special.
My concern would be that if they did such a stupid job with the stuff I can see, they probably are equally incompetent doing everything else that I can’t see. Better to buy it for less (see ongoing b’stoner discussion about that little blue shingled house) and have to renovate it yourself than be stuck with a hack job tucked behind a brownstone facade.
That being said, if you don’t care about aesthetics and just want to jam some tenants in somewhere, it would do nicely. Just peel back some sheetrock so the can have exposed brick. The love that.
Drop the last zero off the end of all of these then they *might* look appealing to some, stlll not to me.
