  1. I think these will sell quickly.

As for the clock, the dome is now lit after not being lit for years, that is correct. The hands and numbers have not been repaired (i.e. lit up or adjusted for the correct time regularly) for a couple of years. I think it coincides with when the deal to buy the building and convert it was in the works. I don’t think the previous owners kept up with repair/lighting. Hopefully the new owners will do so.

  2. I am with Minerva, the dome looks great, (and from what I recall the clock has been off, wrong, or missing hands on 1 side or another a large % of time).

Couldnt help to notice the choice of words above “slam dunk” and “lay-up”…intersting foreshadowing.

As for the $ being lower b/c of AY – no one will know but they are including it in their marketing as a bonus, and so it doesnt look like the developers think it is hurting prices – (from the site):

“One Hanson Place is located in one of the most accessible and exciting neighborhoods Brooklyn has to offer. Within walking distance you’ll find MetroTech Center, the Brooklyn Academy of Music, and the proposed arena for the new Brooklyn Nets. Wander down the road and spend the afternoon at the Brooklyn Museum, the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens or play tennis at the courts in Ft. Greene Park. ”

  3. Cat, I don’t know for certain, but I would beg to differ regarding the tower – in your obsessing over the clock did you happen to notice that they have re-lit the dome? First time in something like 10 years, I think – please correct me if I am wrong. I think it looks beautiful at night with the dome lit. I’d guess they’re just working on the clock.

  4. Maybe someone can solve a slightly unrelated mystery for me. The beloved clock in said W’burg Savings Bank building has been scarcely lit in the past year or so (many ‘number’ lights out, and now the clock hands are off on most sides it seems), whereas in the previous 10 years I can remember only a night or two here and there when even a number light wasn’t working.

What’s happened? I have assumed in the handover from prior to current owners, the person(s) previously in charge no longer work there. But it seems the current owners don’t care much about the appearance of their building– at least, in a way that might seem small to many but means a lot to some of us!
