Banners have gone up on the new apartment building on 3rd Avenue between 7th and 8th streets that we’ve been tracking for a couple years announcing that it’s now to be known as 433 Third. Some pics of the interiors from the website above; a call to Ideal Properties, which is repping the building, informs that they’re shooting for April move-ins and rents are provisionally set in the $1,600- to $3,650-a-month range.

ok, interior isn’t bad and that’s a NICE kitchen for a renter. Also that part of 3rd avenue is really picking up-plus you could actually just walk down 9th street to catch the F at Smith and 9th and have a closer commute.
that being said – I am in my mid-30’s and we don’t have a table or chairs to eat on. We have a very large low Javanese style coffee table and we sit on the rug and eat on the table. While this works now – it’s not ideal – I miss not having a table and chairs like I did growing up – but every apartment or house I have owned since 1999 I have never had room for table and chairs
You don’t need a dining room table in a 1BR, and possibly not in a 2BR. How many people have a “family” in a 1BR, anyway? I realize this thread isn’t about 1BR’s, but I often see posts about “no place for a table”, when the apt is too small for a family, anyway.
I’m in my 40’s, and I eat on the couch. (Sounds like an AA or NA opener.) Tables are overrated.
Credit to the developers for talking up Gowanus on the site and not pretending their building is in Park Slope – I think that might actually be the first time I’ve seen that in a new building. Bodes well for the neighborhood, I would think.
Exterior is ugly, but it’s true, most renters don’t really care. Pricing seems a little high, but everything does to me, so maybe it’s not that unreasonable. And the location’s great, if you’re cool with Gowanus. Heck, if this had existed 3 years ago I might have been considering it.
It’s fine to want a dining table, but to suggest that EVERYONE wants or needs one is part that I find annoying to harp on over and over and over again.
I have no desire for a dining table. 70% of New Yorkers are single and we are known as a bunch to get take out or delivery a lot. A dining table with 4 chairs is not on my radar and I suspect it’s true for many.
Not all of us live in Bath Beach, have a table with 4 chairs and drive everywhere. Not everyone wants that. In fact, I’d say most people moved to NYC to NOT have that.
I’m from the old-school too, and I have to agree with Stargazer. I can understand the situation for singles. However, when talking about couples and families, I think the kitchen table is the single most important piece of furniture in the house.
Benson – Thank you !!
D-Hipster, I kind figured you were in your 20’s….I was too, light years ago….
LOL, I have 3 sons, believe me, I wish I could have sat at a table alone with 3 empty chairs…..but that is in my fantasy life….
I know everyone has different lifestyles, but it would just be nice for once, to at least even see one layout per new building with a full size kitchen, for us old farts like me that are from the old school…..
Most people don’t live your lifestyle stargazer, something you can’t quite accept since you harp on the same. exact. thing. in almost every post.
and as a 20 something who lives alone (and used to have a kitchen table in previous apts) – there’s something pretty depressing about sitting alone at a kitchen table with 3 empty chairs, eating easy mac with cut up hotdogs.
Stargazer;
You’re funny (meant in a good way).
By the way, a shout-out to a Bath Beacher!! I grew up in Gravesend (near West 3rd and Kings Highway) and know your area very well.
