  1. Wow Nomi… I never said they should be prevented from buying the place, BUT questioning it seems to be very appropriate.

If they have 12+ people living there, then it shouldn’t even register as problematic. BUT, if it’s a family of, say, 4 or 5. Then yeah. That’s a problem. I’m sorry, but living in an urban setting and using enormous resources to heat, cool and light a building that is probably DOUBLE what would be considered comfortable for a family of 5…. that should be questioned. A McMansion sized house in the suburbs is absurd for so many reasons (having nothing to do with status etc), but within a city, it’s much worse.

I have a car that get’s 3 mph and belches black soot out the tailpipe… It’s my car and I’m paying for the gas. I can do whatever I want.

If a society feels something is inappropriate — this doesn’t get transmitted magically to the “offender.” They have to be told. And I feel a 5,000 sq ft house is completely absurd unless it’s an inn, an old age home or a family of 12+

  2. “It’s none of our business what someone else wants to do with 5000 sq ft as long as they’re not impinging on our rights.

Not that there aren’t irritatingly ostentatious people all over the place, but they get to do what they want with their money just like the rest of us. ”

Alright, Nomi, this is the last straw!!!

I’m ordering you to attend Al Gore’s re-education camp immediately!!

  3. I’ve never in my life heard anyone say, “I live in Homecrest.”
