im sorry but if you want to find a cheap apartment you have to dig on craigslist. only idiots and rich people go to brokers.

I’m sorry but this is coming from a person whose career choice is to work in Whole Foods, seriously. Just sayin….
I found my last two apartments on Craigslist, which were both adds posted by brokers. I am a yuppie over 30 and it was very efficient for me. Much more so than checking 10 different broker sites every day. I wasted my time at a few places, but never ran into a scam or a “bait and switch.” I think if you know what to look for its very efficient.
Understand its not for everyone, just speaking about my experience. I wouldn’t want to say whether or not it is true or not that “most professionals over the age of 30 use it” because I do not know one way or the other. Aparently you have some statistics that say they don’t.
Hey, if it works for you, that’s great.
I’m just saying that it’s not idiotic for a 32 year old lawyer who works 70 hour weeks to hire a broker so he/she doesn’t have to spend hours scouring craiglist or weekends roaming around from one crappy hole to another.
If you have the time, by all means…
But many people in this city don’t. Or simply think their time is more valuable.
maybe professionals over 30 that dont like blowing loads of cash on shit they can do themselves use craigslist.
> THIS APARTMENT IS BIGGER THAN J-LO’S BOOTY
I totally would have clicked through to that listing.
Yes, brokedeveloper…
And once you remove those from the list, there are about a half dozen left and 9 times out of 10, “this apartment has already been rented, but we have another very similar one (albeit $400 more per month) which would be PERFECT for you”
Come on. I’ve used craigslist back in the day. I didn’t just fall off the turnip truck. I look at craigslist for friends to see if there’s anything good. It’s *possible* to find something if you’re into wasting a ton of time.
But to suggest that most professionals over the age of 30 are using craigslist is simply not true.
