  1. 11217 – Fair enough. Just admit that the response to Mopar’s statement (referencing broker use when he was talking about FRBO) was erroneous, then we’ll move on to the next discussion.
I actually do enjoy sparring with the likes of you and Antidope. It usually stays within the bounds of civility – with an edge.

  2. Wasder… you said “Tybur–I am sensitive to your general outlook and definitely can relate to the feeling that one will never make enough money to own a home in NYC.”

For the first time in a while my comment was strictly about the business sense of buying this place… it just doesn’t makes sense. I can’t even begin to comprehend the notion that “you shouldn’t expect to make a profit at close” — OK, maybe not a profit… but you should be able to break even.

Seriously. Not covering basic expenses for 15 years… and not breaking-even on your investment for 30?! That doesn’t make any business sense.

  3. “You are one angry Blogger.”

Not really. I just like to say things to get the conversation going because this site has been so darn boring lately. The OT has 10 times as many posts as any of the threads.

This is pure fun for me. I own my apartment, own a vacation apartment, have a job I love, travel a ton and love life. Brownstoner is my entertainment when I’ve got a moment. That’s it. Having people who sound as though they are missing chromosomes tell me I need medication does nothing but make me laugh. (I wasn’t referencing you)

  4. I didn’t jump all over Mopar (Mopar is one of brownstoner’s best posters). I was simply saying that not everyone uses craigslist.

The places I found on craigslist when I first moved to New York when I was in my 20’s were fine. I was on a budget, had spare time and found it hellish, but manageable. Definitely spent many hours on the process, though.

Now (assuming I needed a rental, which I don’t) I would not bother with it, and that’s what I’ve found to be true of most people I know who work long hours and make decent money.

That’s it. Do you get some kind of commission off craigslist? Who cares if I don’t use it?
