Today’s House of the Day at 210 Bergen Street was featured on this year’s Boerum Hill House Tour. The single-family brownstone (which the listing describes as being four stories while we count only three) was recently gut-renovated and, unlike many similar efforts that turn us off, this one turned out very nicely in our opinion. Do you agree? How about that asking price of $2,095,000?

Update: Turns out the architect of this place is Coburn Architecture. It was easy to get our hands on a section drawing showing how you get four floors since we are subtenants in their office!

  1. 18′ x 34′ for a total of 2,052 sq. ft according to propertyshark, which makes it 3.35 storeys???????

Sold for $1.18MM in Oct, 2005.

I think it’s an elegantly done rehab at leats wrt that parlour floor.

  2. I absolutely love how this looks in the photos! Would the architect please come forward? Looks like they dug out the cellar to make that super cool play area – I seriously would love to talk to this architect. Re: price – can’t comment since I haven’t followed this area (too far from our kids’ school) . Broker is being a bit misleading to call it 4 floors when it’s 3 plus dug out cellar – but then again, looks like they did make that cellar usable space in a very rare and creative way. Has anyone seen it in person – does it live up to the pix?

  3. Smallish with modernish reno touches.

Think the shark move would be to grab the smallish estate sale 2-family just down the block (Fillmore listing – 210 Bergen) for $1.1M so you can make your own bad decor choices.

At least these two have a chance at moving; the other recent listing on this block is a 20-foot double duplex for $2.95ish or so (242 Bergen)…and I think the USA will win the WC before that happens.

Oh, and also…THIS EFFING HOUSING MARKET IS INSANE!!!!

  4. This was my favorite house on the BH House Tour. Lovely reno, unpretentious. Modern without being precious. It’s more like 3 1/2 stories, with an unusual and creative use of the basement. In the 4th photo, the bookcase-lined staircase is leading down from the 1st (ground) floor into the half-finished basement, which has direct access to the garden.

Price is ambitious for sure, but I hope they get it.
