House of the Day: 68 Skillman Avenue
Well, there’s one thing you can say for sure about 68 Skillman Avenue: Those floors sure are shiny! The 2,500-square-foot house has just had a full make-over but we’re not loving the results. Sure everything looks neat and tidy but it’s got neither the charm of an old house nor the sexiness of a modern…

Sure everything looks neat and tidy but it’s got neither the charm of an old house nor the sexiness of a modern one. And for $1,495,000, we’d want one or the other.

the floors, the bathrooms, the fixtures, the window treatments– if i were the buyer, it would all have to go. and i don’t think i’m picky.
that’s a shame if it was a recent makeover- its pretty fugly, so its most likely a waste of effort and money for everyone. new buyers will have to pay for some of that schlock just to rip it out again and go through the trouble of re-renovating, unless the sellers hold out for someone with that specific taste.
“Agree that this sub area is far from prime Williamsburg and right near the BQE. ”
Used to live around here – and as I’ve always said, i find this part of the nabe more desirable than Bedford area. More neighborhoody, and centrally located to amenities in Greenpoint, Graham Ave area and Bedford Ave area (10 min walk).
^^^^ can you tell I hate poorly designed bathrooms.
Don’t get me started on kitchens.
“townhouse is definitely one-of-a-kind. Newly rebuilt and renovated thoughtfully”
yep, one-of-a-kind.
Nothing like splurging $200 on that vanity in the white bathroom in a Million Dollar + home!
How narrow is that sink vanity? When washing your face don’t use water…it’ll never land in the tiny sink.
Nice touch with the black wall mounted soap dishes (screams 1970’s).
And a dinky little medicine cabinet…wall mounted never the less!
And put the outlet so far from the sink/medicine cab. that you need to run an extension cord to it.
And let’s NOT give a light fixture over each mirror in the master bathroom. Let them share one….This way half a person’s face will be in shadow.
Yep, really thoughtfully renovated.

“Skillman aint desireable at all. I’d rather live in Stuyvesant Heights.”
haha – you have no idea what you’re talking about.
…
New here?
“I’d rather live in Stuyvesant Heights.”
I can’t believe that! Think of the implications of what you are saying.
Agree that this sub area is far from prime Williamsburg and right near the BQE. $1.4 is not going to work.
I agree it looks rather blah, neither modern nor traditional, neither here nor there.
And who has a kitchen table when the “dining room” is right there, with another table and chairs? It’s just weird. (I know that has nothing to do with the house itself; I’m just saying’….)
