House of the Day: 68 Skillman Avenue
Well, there’s one thing you can say for sure about 68 Skillman Avenue: Those floors sure are shiny! The 2,500-square-foot house has just had a full make-over but we’re not loving the results. Sure everything looks neat and tidy but it’s got neither the charm of an old house nor the sexiness of a modern…

Sure everything looks neat and tidy but it’s got neither the charm of an old house nor the sexiness of a modern one. And for $1,495,000, we’d want one or the other.
68 Skillman Avenue [Corcoran] GMAP P*Shark
$1,900 a month in common charges!!!!!!
After one year of socking that amount of money away if you buy a house, you’ll have enough for a new roof, a new heating system and abathroom makeover.
The taxes on this place are probably around $2,000….probably $4,000 on a one bedroom condo anywhere.
“how much would a new condo go for of 2500 sq ft with big private garden? then add another $150k to cost for not having to deal with a condo board and their restrictions.”
There’s a 2000 sqft townhouse available at 80 Met for 1.4 – tax abatement but high common charges (1900/mo).
Tile throughout the hallway, kitchen and dining romm???
That’s VERY third world.
Eh, it needs to be “thoughtfully” re-renovated.
Whenever I see listings like this one, I imagine telling my parents that I spent a million dollars to live in a cheesy house a block from the BQE. I know I’m naive/bourgeois/tasteless, but I want a million dollars to look like a million fucking bucks.
General question, is east of the BQE Greenpoint and not Williamsburg? I know that realtors try to stretch it to Canarsie, but I remember a friend’s place on Humboldt/Frost being considered definitely Greenpoint 10 years ago.
I think you maybe could get a new condo w/ a smaller garden for that size in subprime Williamsburg for $1.3m or less.
And add another 25K to get rid of the more awful aspects of the renovation.

“haha – you have no idea what you’re talking about.”
Sure don’t. I ASSumed the southern end. Apologies, folks.

Needs to be reconfigured. The small bedroom has no closet. Like the oP said, the dining room and kitchen, you do not need 2 tables, yeah thats a switch.
No windows in bathrooms….
not feeling it.
The decor is horrendous, looks like a rendering though.
