A housekeeper might be in tall order, but the old bones of this house at 87 Macon Street in Bed Stuy are pretty sweet if you can look past the clutter. The painted brownstone is divided up into a double-duplex configuration and has a two-story extension off the rear. It was originally listed back in November at $849,000 but recently was reduced to $750,000. Getting warm or a ways to go?

Maly,
Where is 229 Macon listed?
rh, I don’t have a car here in NYC. Not a factor for me.
That said, it has been a real benefit to my guests who drive that parking is SO EASY over near where I am.
rh…you ever been to Augie’s Brownstone Inn?????
Expert Textpert,
NY Times says it’s been “posted” for 72 days. (I’m not exactly sure what “posted” means, but I assume it relates to how long it’s been listed.)

Oh PS: Dibs, Verona is a 2 way, but still quiet.
DIBS, RH is always right. 🙂
It’s very close to Fulton, but it’s pretty quiet since there aren’t too many bars or restaurants around (at the moment).
Parking isn’t super easy, being so close to Fulton. The shops close by around 7pm and then there are plenty of spaces, but on alternate side days, the thing to do is double park or park a few blocks away.
benson, no one has said it’s going for ask. They’re just oohing and ahing about the architectural details, something your beloved fedders and modern buildings will never aspire to!!!! 😛
rh is right…it’s about a minute to the Nostrand A and it’s 2 blocks from Restoration Plaza.
Plus, I bet that street is relatively quiet…not a main thoroughfare… and that Verona Place across the street doesn’r bring traffic in from Atlantic..it’s one way in the opposite direction.
This is truly a “We’re not in Kansas anymore” listing.
$750K asking……for this.
Can there be any greater exclamation point on the dysfuntional NYC housing market?
So new roof, new joists, structural and mechanical work, maintain all details: v. expensive.
How much would this house be worth in perfect condition?
