This brownstone at 371 8th Street surely has great potential for an intrepid renovator. The 12.5-foot-wide house may be in need of a gut renovation as the listing points out (hence no interior photos), but the exterior is charming and the location is nothing to sniff at. How about that price? $900,000 for 2,250 square feet of space? That’s $400 a foot before you even talk to an architect. We shall see.

  1. You should see OUR en suite bathroom. We have two bidets, his and hers, located on either side of our mirrored California King bed, plus a large, jetted, color and aroma therapy bath at the foot of said bed. It is wonderful. And the toilet has its own room. This home would NEVER allow for it.

  2. rob,
I have been to brownstones with “his and hers” ensuite bathrooms. Usually the “his” is spartan with a shower, a sink and a wc, while “hers” looks like something from a 1930’s movie set complete with vintage phone by the mahble tub.
You would enjoy going on house tours,
it is a good way to see first hand the excess of the haute bourgeoisie.

  3. I hope somebody buys this place. I used to pass it by all the time when I lived in the Slope, and it was sad to see it rotting away.

I have a friend who lives in a 12″ wide townhouse in Boston. It’s cute but a feng shui nightmare. Like living in a doublewide trailer set on end. It’s good exercise running up and down the stairs all day though.

  4. 11’ x 43’ = 473 sf – 50sf for stairs = 423 sf/floor.

That’s crazy narrow + small unless you want to open a bowling alley.

Add in the renovation headache … price has to come down and it will take a special buyer.

  5. I wish DIBS had a couple of teenage sons who would mock him by yelling ENSUITE BATHROOM a hundred and fifty times a day.

Honeslty, I am beginning to think the ensuite bathroom thing is a drinking game I slow to pick up on.
