This two-family limestone house at 594 2nd Street in Park Slope just hit the market this week with a price tag of $3,500,000. It’s a great house to be sure, with lots of original detail combined with a complete modernization of bathrooms, kitchen, etc. It will be an interesting test of the high-end market in the Slope.

  1. “kitchen ahoy! feels like a gaaaaaallllleeyyy.
    i’d prefer a deck off the kitchen where i could dine, not just stand with a drink and cigar.
    the looooong and skinny extension gives one nice thing – deck on third floor – but taketh away from the garden and garden floor natural light.
    i’ll hang onto my 3500000 clams for now”.

    Sorry to be a party spoiler but dopey is spot on. This house has a great facade, very nice location and fabulous dining room ceiling.
    The rest is very very mediocre i.e. that kitchen is dated with unattractive design…*rob* is correct, the deck is only ok at this price point, and the whole place feels dark and poorly finished again at this price point.
    Sorry again but this is not $3.5 million special!

  2. Rob, I’d like to think I’m near normal. But two sinks does not make it ‘neccessary’ for a couple to do their stuff together, it makes it ‘possible’ to do so. Get the difference? IOW I don’t have to listen to my wife yell at me ‘ARE YOU DONE YET’ cuz she’s waiting to brush her teeth or whatever. She can just do whatever she needs to do whenever she needs to do it in her own sink. And it’s not just two sinks, it’s two vanities and two mirrors. And in our house there’s some distance btw them.

    One less stress on the marriage, small as it may seem.

    And what’s wrong with double sinks, they’re perfect for a couple. I did them in my house.

    because normal people don’t find it necessary to do their morning rituals together. that’s just weird and creepy! do you both stare into the mirror while youre brushing your teeth and giggle about your upcoming day working shifts at the co-op? sorry, i just dont get it. it’s pointless and total overkill.

  4. not to hijack this scintillating discussion on U and Non-U countertops but I just saw my favorite headline of the week. The NY Post leads with:
    “Tiger proves he’s a Cheetah”

  5. “Rob, could you not be negative and contrary just for the sake of being so just once?”

    The funny thing is that Rob has probably never been inside a brownstone in his life, but he’s now developing opinions on $3 million dollar properties. Witness his formica comments. And what’s wrong with double sinks, they’re perfect for a couple. I did them in my house.

  6. Again, BHS comes through with another incredible townhouse listing. This must be the result of a sound and creative office management, a sound reputation, hard work, canvassing, professionalism, and producing results.

    Brokerage Points for the larger brokerages as per opinion:

    #1 Brown, Harris & Stevens pertaining to gracious high priced townhouses throughout Brooklyn;

    #2 Corcoran pertaining to the sale of coops, condos, new developments, townhouses and rentals;

    #3 Prudential Douglas Eliman (a far and questionable third)for only rentals. Ideal is competing strongly for #3 in the rental market.
