227 Clinton Street, a 25-foot-wide brownstone in Cobble Hill, hit the market in mid-September for $3,400,000 and by the end of October was listed on StreetEasy as being in contract. Apparently, though, things didn’t work out, as the gorgeous double-duplex house has been back on the market for a couple of weeks now. Man, is that parlor floor to die for or what!

  1. The paneled entry foyer is gorgeous!
Change this to an owner’s triplex and it’ll be a great house.
The parlor floor back (addition) room is screaming to be the kitchen. Oh, and add a powder room to the parlor floor.

  2. This would be a great place for identical twins who work on Wall St. to buy and share with their respective families. Whoever gets the bigger bonus gets to live upstairs for the year.

  3. I hate the color of the tan crown molding. I love the molding itself…those brackets, dentil and eggs and darts carved are giving me a woody. The room would look good in a painted color with the crown white. Just taste, though.

These rooms are real estate porn, especially for what will be a $2.2-2.5MM home.

  4. I’m also loving the tan color on the parlor ceiling. I believe that kind of rear extension was called the “tea room” back in the day. The kitchen should be expanded to fill the entire space. I’ve seen that done very successfully in a number of houses of this era. Currently it’s barely the size of a walk in closet. And what about those wonderful striped floors in the bedroom (looks like that’s the garden level) — cool, no? My guess is that the house needs some updating but overall it looks very pretty.

  5. Layout does seem very odd for this price point. I wonder who wants to spend that much to live in a duplex and rent out the other half, and at this price, converting back to triplex with rental is also expensive. Plus, the kitchens are ridiculously small. Seems like a tough sell to me – especially given the extremely ambitious/aggressive price tag.
